Lending a helping hand to our communities during Covid-19

Lending a helping hand to our communities during Covid-19

27th April 2020

The Society has been eager to support our local community during this difficult period. So we recently made contact with our local hospital, Russell’s Hall to see if there was anything we could do to support them.

Russell’s Hall asked for donations of wash bags for their doctors and nurses working on the Covid-19 isolation wards as they have to shower after seeing each patient. The Society has put together 1000 wash bags that have been donated to the hospital, each filled with miniature toiletries.

In addition to this we arranged for 150 cupcakes to be delivered to Russell’s Hall Hospital to say thank you to the NHS. We would like to thank Cupcakes by Fi for creating such lovely cupcakes at such a short notice.

We hope that our contribution made Russell’s Hall’s employees day a little brighter, and we want to take this opportunity to thank all of our NHS workers who are putting their lives as risk every day to ensure our safety.

We would also like to celebrate our own employees who are actively using their own time to volunteer for the NHS and make a positive difference. Lauren, a member of our Products and Mortgage Systems team, has so far volunteered a total of 70 hours for the NHS volunteer service. Customer Service Advisor Nav has also been volunteering for the Check in and Chat scheme, where she has been lifting the spirits of elderly and often lonely individuals by offering them reassurance. We are very proud of them both!!

The Society is passionate about giving back to our communities and has regularly encouraged employees to take 1 day per year to support the local community by volunteering their time. However, now more than ever, our communities need extra hands to help and it was agreed to allow all employees up to 5 days paid time off, to volunteer during the pandemic.

We are keen to continue to reach out to our local communities to help make a positive difference.

Please stay safe during this time.
