Working at Dudley
Health

We know you can’t put a price on your health, but it helps, particularly when it comes to optical care, dental and chiropody. That’s why from day one, you will have access to a health Cash Plan to claim back your day-to-day healthcare needs.

If that’s not enough, all employees will also receive full private medical insurance through Bupa, as well as a GP service when you can’t get to see your own.

Wellbeing

We take your wellbeing very seriously. Over the last 12 months in particular we have invested considerably in supporting our people in all areas of their life. We have a number of qualified Mental Health First Aiders across the Society who are always on hand to listen and support.

Whether it's providing mindfulness classes, tea and talk sessions with a counsellor or offering visits to our Physiotherapist, Matt. Whatever it is, we tend to go the extra mile. We have offered everyone the chance to learn a new skill, which has been a great addition to the development of our teams. With everything from  Crystal Healing Diplomas and cross stitch accreditations, to learning a new language, right through to Psychology diplomas. The possibilities are endless!

Holiday

From time to time we all have events in our life which will require time away from work. In addition to your 28 days holiday (plus bank holidays), we offer additional days if you move house, get married or welcome a new grandchild to your family.

We know everyone is different though, which means we operate a flexible holiday scheme, so you can buy and sell your holiday to suit your needs.

In addition to these moments which matter in your personal life, we also want you to celebrate your time with us. With our long service awards, you are rewarded for every 5 years you spend with us. With gifts and treats as a given, you’ll also have an additional day off to celebrate how you wish!

Financial

As a financial service institution, we always think now is a good time to plan ahead. Alongside our generous, flexible pension plan, we give all employees time with an Independent Financial Adviser to review your pension arrangements, to make sure you’re planning for your future. You can also add a little to your savings account every month straight from your salary, to stop temptation getting in your way!

In the event something happens to you, we want to make sure your family are covered. That’s why should the worst happen, we provide life assurance for four times your annual salary, to leave to your loved ones.

Family

If you ask our employees what word they would use to describe Dudley Building Society, they say "family" (we know, we asked them!). This means we know how important yours is. Our Flex Appeal policy across the business lets you have the opportunity to balance the needs of your family with those of the Society.

We appreciate you may spend more time with us rather than with your family, so to say thank you we’ll take your family out for the day once a year, as well as run regular colouring and writing competitions throughout the year to keep in touch with our budding young members. We understand that they support you, for you to support us.

Your Future

We are passionate about our people and investing in their future is something we think is really important. That's why over half of our workforce are working towards a recognised qualification or learning a new skill.

Over the last few years, our internal talent programmes have enabled our people to be promoted into both Managerial and Executive level roles, equipping them with skills they need now and in the future.

As a small Society, you can expect to find unique opportunities in learning new skills and gaining valuable knowledge, should you want exposure to a broad range of activities. Whether that’s being part of a project team, being mentored by one of our senior leaders or attending various committees to build your knowledge, the opportunities are there for the taking.

Strong performance is recognised through our GEM (going the extra mile) scheme, where we can all celebrate your great achievements and ongoing passions, with members at the forefront of our activities.

Your Community

Being a local Building Society, our community is a great influence over all we do here at Dudley. We want to give back to our community and ensure we can support them where possible. That’s why we are always on the look out for local events and fundraisers for us to get involved with. With baby bank donations through to volunteer shifts at Russell’s Hall Hospital, there will be something for you.

In addition to this, we also like to do something extra special each year. Which is why we have a special Charity of the Year. This year we are partnered with Make A Wish! We have so far helped several children and their families enjoy a day at the Bear Grylls Experience in Birmingham with a team of fantastic volunteers from around the Society. There are more volunteering opportunities upcoming, but our biggest fundraising event will come towards the end of 2022 with a group Skydive! With all proceeds raised going through to Make A Wish to support those children with critical illnesses to have a special day!
