Community Support During 2020/21
Russell's Hall Rainbow Donation
We donated £500 to the Dudley Group NHS Charity in August 2020 to put towards the Russell's Hall Rainbow, a sculpture that will act as a lasting thank you to key workers during the pandemic.
Donation to Russell's Hall
The Society made contact with local hospital, Russell’s Hall to see if there was anything we could do to support them.
Russell’s Hall asked for donations of wash bags for their doctors and nurses working on the Covid-19 isolation wards, who had to shower after seeing each patient. The Society put together 1,000 wash bags that were donated to the hospital, each filled with miniature toiletries.
In addition to this, we arranged for 150 cupcakes to be delivered to Russell’s Hall Hospital to say thank you to the NHS. We would like to thank Cupcakes by Fi for creating such lovely cupcakes at such short notice.
We hope that our contribution made Russell’s Hall’s employees' day a little brighter, and we want to take this opportunity to thank all of our NHS workers who are putting their lives as risk every day to ensure our safety.
Donation to Bushy Fields Hospital
We made a donation of 100 wash bags to the Malvern Ward at Bushy Fields Hospital to help protect their staff and patients against the spread of Covid-19. Our Charity of the Year, Dudley Mind, are based at this hospital.
Donating to our local care homes
We donated personalised care packages to Ridgeway Care Home, Wyncroft Nursing Home, Victoria Lodge and Abby Lodge to say thank you to our hard-working care workers.
Our branch employees kindly put the personalised packages together, and they contained wash bags for both care workers and residents to protect them against the spread of Covid-19, as well as items to keep residents occupied and boost morale, particularly when their loved ones were unable to visit during this challenging time.
Mary Stevens Hospice
In September 2020, we donated £10,267.09 to Mary Stevens Hospice on behalf of our members. This was the final amount accrued from our Save and Sponsor account, where members saw a proportion of the interest gained go to the hospice.
In addition to this, we sponsored Mary Stevens Hospice’s Tree of Light services in 2020 and 2021, where they hold a service to help people remember their loved ones.
