Powering Life in the New Normal

Over the last six months we have all been affected by the impact of Covid-19, and we understand how challenging it has been for our members. So, at Dudley Building Society we have been committed to supporting you during this difficult time, and helping you adjust to the new normal.

The Society has been powering life within our local community for 162 years, and throughout the course of history the business has encountered a great deal of economic uncertainty. Yet we are proud to have continued to be a pillar of strength and stability within both our local and wider communities.

Our purpose is and always has been to exist for the benefit of you as a member and our local communities. Therefore, when the impact of Covid-19 became clear at the beginning of 2020 we were determined to maintain a sense of normality in a world that was rapidly coming to a standstill.

Society employees have been determined to maintain positivity during this time, with our branches maintaining a positive and relaxed atmosphere for both employees and customers.

We are passionate about putting our members at the forefront of everything we do, and during these challenging times we found that communication, flexibility, and guidance were crucial to maintaining this sense of normality.


We created a Coronavirus webpage where we have been providing members with the most up to date information, including any changes to our opening hours and amendments to our processes. This has ensured that you have still been able to access your accounts and interact with us throughout this period.


The Society provided alternative options for members unable to visit any of our branches by adjusting our withdrawal process and offering our more vulnerable customers appointments.

Our dedicated branch employees have been busy going above and beyond to serve our members by providing support to shielding customers who were unable to visit our branches.

We understand that the pandemic has caused financial strain for many families across the country. In response to this we also offered a series of measures including mortgage payment deferrals for our members who may be struggling financially.


We have been paying close attention to Government and NHS guidance as it becomes available. Our focus has always been on the personal safety and welfare of both our employees and our members, whilst ensuring we have relevant plans in place to minimise any disruption to our services.

In light of the increasing Coronavirus related scams we also created a Coronavirus fraud awareness page on our website with guidance on how to be scam aware during this difficult time.

Our support did not stop there, we are passionate about supporting our local communities and doing the right thing. So, we dedicated £5,000 to support various causes within our communities such as local care homes, Russell’s Hall Hospital, and Bushy Fields Hospital to say thank you for their hard work during this time. We are aware that the impacts of this pandemic are not over yet, and we want to continue to support the efforts of our local communities.

Whilst we all adjust to this new normal we would like to emphasise how we will continue to remain a constant support for you as a member of Dudley Building Society.
