Protect yourself against doorstep crime
Did you know that 13% of UK residents have been victims of botched home improvement jobs in the past year? Fraud Against Scams do, and that’s why they've launched their Doorstep Crime campaign to help combat the growing cases of door to door and rogue traders.
Doorstep crime refers to rogue traders, bogus callers and distraction burglary. These criminals visit properties and offer fraudulent services, overcharge for their services, and may use false logos or ID that appear to be genuine, all to exploit people in their homes.
Fraud Against Scams have created a useful leaflet, found here, which explores the common tactics these criminals use to target their victims, and how you can prevent them from approaching your home.
As their leaflet explains, doorstep crime is moving online due to the pandemic. So why not take a look at our Fraud and Cyber Awareness guide, which provides tips on how to protect yourself online.
If you're looking to take on home improvements, but feel hesitant due to the prospect of rogue traders, we can support you in finding reputable tradesmen.
