Sustainability

We are dedicated to creating a sustainable future for both our customers and communities.

Sustainability
Carbon Footprint

We’ve been measuring our own carbon footprint as a business annually since 2020, and have maintained our commitment to maintaining our carbon neutral status by offsetting our carbon emissions each year.

Since we began measuring our carbon footprint, we have taken the below steps to reduce our environmental impact:

  • We’ve switched to a renewable energy provider, which cuts our yearly Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by over 90% each year.
  • We have also introduced an electric vehicle scheme to our employees, which allows employees to lease an electric or hybrid car using pre-tax salary deductions, and supports them to reduce their own carbon footprint.
  • In addition to this, we also offer a cycle to work scheme, for employees that wish to cut their carbon footprint by cycling to work.

We have committed to continuing to understand how we can reduce our carbon footprint over the long term, as well as holding ourselves accountable as a business for our own impact.

Helping our customers improve their sustainability

We encourage our customers to play their part in reducing their own environmental impact by making their own changes – big or small.

As a mortgage lender we think it’s really important to support homeowners to figure out how they can improve the energy efficiency of their homes, so we have a page dedicated to guidance around this.

Reducing our paper use

We have taken steps to reduce our paper use as a business, and we continue to reduce this by streamlining our internal processes and communicating via email to our members, where possible.
