Santa's elves arrived at Russells Hall children's ward

This Christmas, some of our employees joined the team at the Russells Hall Hospitals children’s ward, to support with their Santa’s workshop Christmas fun day.

They were on hand to man the arts and crafts station to get young people in the Christmas spirit! Our Marketing & Communications Manager, Amy Morgan, said “It was lovely to see Santa brightening the days of children who are going through a difficult time. Seeing their faces light up when Santa walked in the room was amazing’.

Thank you to the Dudley Group NHS Charity for letting us volunteer and to provide the £500 to help fund the day.

Offering a helping hand at Christmas

Some of our colleagues, including our Chief Executive Officer, recently volunteered at The Black Country Food Bank

The food bank provides emergency supplies to vulnerable people and families across the Black Country. Volunteers helped with processing and preparing the donations ready for distribution.

Colleagues have also supported The Christmas Lunch Project for the second year in a row, helping them pack 500 food hampers. They then deliver the hampers to families in need around the Black Country at Christmas.

Bringing magic to the UK for children living with critical conditions

In September, a group of volunteers were accepted to take part in a once in a lifetime event alongside our charity of the Year, Make-A-Wish.

Acting as Event & Experience Host volunteers, they had the truly unique opportunity to help bring Disney to the UK, and in doing so helping revive childhoods for those whose have been lost to critical illness.

This rare day at an enchanted Manor allowed our volunteers to support in making the wish experience magical for the entire family, creating memories to last a lifetime.

Making a splash at the Haven

The Haven Wolverhampton supports women and children who have been subject to Domestic Abuse, and women who are at risk of homeless, by providing emergency accommodation.

To help them in ensuring their accommodation is kept to a high standard for these families, we got together a small team of volunteers to help paint and decorate some of the rooms. We're keen to return with our brushes and overalls to ensure they receive the support they need and deserve.

Meet our Russell's Hall Hospital volunteers!

In October we had the fantastic and humbling opportunity to volunteer at our local hospital, Russells Hall.

Volunteers are an integral part of the hospital, and we couldn’t believe all the amazing work they selflessly do. It was an honour to have an insight into how they generously share their time supporting their local community. We hope to return in the near future to volunteer some more!

Bear Grylls Adventure Wish Alumni day

In July, Make-a-Wish organised an amazing day to celebrate their Wish Alumni children and provided them with a fun trip with their families, at the Bear Grylls Adventure centre in Birmingham.

Eight Society employees had the lovely opportunity to volunteer to greet wish families at the carpark, direct them to the Bear Grylls adventure and meet the families in reception. It truly was a fantastic day and a pleasure to meet some of the children.
