Helping Our Communities During Covid-19

Russell's Hall Rainbow Donation

We donated £500 to the Dudley Group NHS Charity in August 2020 to put towards the Russell's Hall Rainbow, a sculpture that will act as a lasting thank you to key workers during the pandemic.

Donation to Russell's Hall

The Society has been eager to support our local community during this difficult period. So we recently made contact with our local hospital, Russell’s Hall to see if there was anything we could do to support them.

Russell’s Hall asked for donations of wash bags for their doctors and nurses working on the Covid-19 isolation wards as they have to shower after seeing each patient. The Society has put together 1000 wash bags that have been donated to the hospital, each filled with miniature toiletries.

Donation to Russells Hall

In addition to this we arranged for 150 cupcakes to be delivered to Russell’s Hall Hospital to say thank you to the NHS. We would like to thank Cupcakes by Fi for creating such lovely cupcakes at such a short notice.

We hope that our contribution made Russell’s Hall’s employees day a little brighter, and we want to take this opportunity to thank all of our NHS workers who are putting their lives as risk every day to ensure our safety.

The Society is eager to continue with our efforts to help those affected by Covid-19.

Donation to Bushy Fields Hospital

We also made a donation of 100 wash bags to the Malvern Ward at Bushy Fields Hospital to help protect their staff and patients against the spread of Covid-19. Our charity of the year, Dudley Mind, are based at this hospital.

Donating to our local care homes

We have donated personalised care packages to Ridgeway Care Home, Wyncroft Nursing Home, Victoria Lodge, and Abby Lodge to say thank you to our hard-working care workers.

Our branch employees kindly put the personalised packages together, and they contained wash bags for both care workers and residents to protect them against the spread of Covid-19, as well as items to keep residents occupied and boost morale, particularly as their loved ones are unable to visit during this challenging time.

Employee Volunteering

We would also like to celebrate our own employees who are actively using their own time to volunteer during the current crisis and make a positive difference. Lauren, a member of our Products and Mortgage Systems team, has so far volunteered a total of 70 hours for the NHS volunteer service. Customer Service Advisor Nav has also been volunteering for the Check in and Chat scheme, where she has been lifting the spirits of elderly and often lonely individuals by offering them reassurance. We are very proud of them both!!

The Society is passionate about giving back to our communities and has regularly encouraged employees to take 1 day per year to support the local community by volunteering their time. However, now more than ever, our communities need extra hands to help and it was agreed to allow all employees up to 5 days paid time off, to volunteer during the pandemic.

We are keen to continue to reach out to our local communities to help make a positive difference.

Please stay safe during this time.
