Annual General Meeting
The 148th Annual General Meeting of Dudley Building Society took place
at Dudley Concert Hall on Thursday July 19th 2007.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman Ken Slater highlighted the Society's
achievements during the year, including total assets passing the £250m
mark, a growth of 9.9%.
He also confirmed the Society continued to enjoy a buoyant mortgage
market although five Bank of England interest rate rises in the past
12 months may start to have an impact on the nation's wealth. Projected
gross lending is £60m for the year 2007/2008 and the Society is
well on the way to achieving this target.
Higher interest rates mean greater returns for the Society's savers
and Mr. Slater emphasised the Society's policy of promoting safe and
transparent savings accounts, the openness of which help engender confidence
and satisfaction for members. Treating Customers Fairly was, he noted,
an area given considerable effort by the Society for the benefit of
members.
Mr. Slater finished by confirming the Society's intention to open a
new branch in the Perton area of Wolverhampton at the end of the summer.
He was pleased to be able to announce that premises have been secured
and an opening date of mid-September has been provisionally agreed.
As a result of votes cast, Mary Stevens Hospice, a local organization
that does excellent work for cancer patients will receive a donation
from the Society.
A summary of the votes cast for the various resolutions passed at the
AGM are attached
