DBS Host Charity Football Tournament

28th September 2016

Dudley Building Society announced today that it had raised £3,600 to support their Charity of the Year, Mary Stevens Hospice. The money was raised via Dudley Building Society’s 5 a side football tournament, which was held on 27 September at Goals in Rowley Regis.

The tournament was a huge success attracting 10 Society partners that entered their own teams for the event. The sponsors taking part included ECA Group, FBC Manby Bowdler, Technology Management, George Green LLP, Deloitte, Ciphr, The Partnership, Copthorne Merry Hill, KPMG as well as a team from Mary Stevens Hospice.

Mary Stevens Hospice are a registered charity offering specialist care for people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, as well as dedicated support for their families and carers. These services are provided free of charge to those who need them throughout the Dudley Borough, as well as parts of south Staffordshire, Wyre Forest, Sandwell and Hereford & Worcester.

The tournament was played with a fun but competitive edge. After the final, all teams came together to applaud the winners of the tournament and an announcement was made for the total amount raised, being a whopping total of £3,600.

Raj Bains Head of Legal and Secretarial at Dudley Building Society who hosted the tournament said: “A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who sponsored and supported the event. Mary Stevens Hospice carry out such amazing work and events such as this will hopefully contribute to them continuing the delivery of what is such an essential service for so many.”

Dan Malin, Digital Media and PR Specialist at Mary Stevens Hospice said:

“We’re fortunate to receive the continued support of Dudley Building Society, and we’re delighted that the tournament was such a success.
