Summer of 2015 saw Members of Dudley Building Society select their Charity of the Year by voting in one of their six branches locally. The charity that Members chose was the Georgina Unit at Russells Hall Hospital.
Over the past year the Society has carried out a number of events to raise money for the Charity as well as launching a One Year Fixed Rate Charity Bond.
In addition to this, the Society donated 10p for every postal vote and 20p for every online vote cast towards their Annual General Meeting.
In total, the Society raised £1,350 for the charity to provide patients with as much care and comfort as possible.
Karen Philips, Fundraising Manager at Dudley Group NHS Charity said, ‘We are so grateful to the staff and members at Dudley Building Society for raising these funds for us. They were keen to get involved at the hospital raising funds and awareness. It’s great to see everyone at Dudley Building Society showing a genuine interest in making a difference for our cancer patients.’
Jeremy Wood, Chief Executive of Dudley Building Society said, ‘We wanted to support a charity that our Members strongly believe in and do as much for them as possible. We hope that the funds provided will not only help patients and their families in their time of need, but also bring awareness to the charity so that others may donate and support them in turn.’
The Society has since run their Charity of the Year campaign for 2016 in which Members voted for Mary Stevens Hospice to be this year’s sponsored charity.
