Dudley Building Society recently held the grand opening of its new Kingswinford branch that has relocated from High Street to the Townsend Place Precinct. To celebrate the day the Society was joined by the Fizzogs, a local theatre group. Not only did they spend time meeting and greeting Members whilst in character, they also put on a comical and entertaining performance which has gone viral with over 50,000 views.
The branch was officially opened by the Mayor of Dudley, who mentioned that his first act of being Mayor was to open the Brierley Hill branch that had recently been refurbished. He went on to say how this move to the Townsend Place Precinct would be a fantastic move for the Society, as well as a great asset to the precinct itself.
Those that weren’t able to make it to the branch on the day were able to tune in to Black Country Radio who covered the event by broadcasting there mid morning show live from the branch.
The Society carried out a free prize draw for every Member that visited the branch on the launch day. The winner of the prize draw was recently selected and was awarded to a very delighted Mrs Brenda Malpass.
Mrs Malpass has been with the Society for 52 years and opened her first account when she married her husband in 1964 who was already a Member and she took out her first mortgage with the Society.
When asked what she thought of the new branch, she said ‘It’s absolutely great! There is so much more space and it’s much more welcoming. The girls that that work in the branch are so nice and friendly.’
Mrs Malpass was so excited when she found out she won, she said ‘I walked in to the branch and the girls started clapping. I was so amazed, I’ve never won anything.’
We asked her if there were any improvements she thought we could make, but we were met with a very firm no. She said, ‘I've always been very happy with the services and have never had any problems.’
