NIKKI'S ON THE RUN WITH THE HELP OF DUDLEY BUILDING SOCIETY

Nikki Wilkinson offers the Societys Jenny Blaze and Ross Parker a few tips

23rd August 2011

Dudley Building Society’s Sedgley branch were quick out of the blocks this week to help boost one if its members’ efforts to raise money for a local special school.

Local woman Nikki Wilkinson, who is a mortgage borrower with the Dudley, ran the Wolverhampton half-marathon to help raise funds for Pens Meadow Special School which caters for pupils with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties.

Mrs. Wilkinson, whose daughter Amy attends Pens Meadow, has recently started to help out at the school and felt compelled to ‘do her bit’ in the light of recent funding cuts which have had an impact on the school.

Upon hearing of Nikki’s efforts, her local Dudley Building Society branch in Sedgley agreed to donate a further £150, boosting her overall fundraising endeavours to £600.

Sedgley Branch Office Manager Jenny Blaze commented:

“Nikki is a regular visitor to the Sedgley branch and is a positive ‘can-do’ lady, so we were not surprised to hear she was set to run the half-marathon for the benefit of other people. Her enthusiasm is infectious and we were pleased to be able to contribute to such a worthwhile cause. She’s already planning her next challenge!”

Nikki Wilkinson said:

“It’s very generous of the Dudley to help my fundraising efforts. I have been a saver and borrower with the Society for three years and it has always been a friendly place to come, so I thought I would ask! I was proud of my time of three hours and two minutes, but it was hard! Pens Meadow does a wonderful job and the money raised will go towards their target of £20,000 which they will use to create a Sensory Room that will be of great benefit to the pupils.”

Anyone wishing to make a contribution to Pens Meadow Special School’s fundraising effort can contact the school on 01384 818945.
